Why you
should seal your concrete driveway
If you have
an existing concrete driveway or have just invested in a new driveway for your
home, then you should consider having it sealed to preserve its appearance, to
extend its lifetime and to help prevent the buildup of unwanted moss or other
vegetative growth.
Sealing your
driveway will protect the surface from becoming stained from oils or other
spillages. The sealer creates a barrier which restricts the oil-based stains
from penetrating into the more porous surface of the concrete keeping the natural
colour for longer.
Using a
sealer also protects and enhances the surface of all pattern imprinted concrete
and not just solid concreate surfaces so it’s ideal should you have had a new
pattern printed driveway installed. Sealers also help keep water away from the
concreate and can help prevent the longer-term problem of frost damage should
water enter the concrete and then expand when frozen enlarging any existing
minor cracks.
Color-Pave
concrete base coat sealer is in a choice of colours and will change an existing
driveway or patio to a darker colour if the driveway is damaged or in
disrepair. This will leave a monotone colour and when applied with a roller of
sprayer and left to dry then overcoated with a Color-Pave coloured tinted
sealer will last for 3+ years approx.
This concrete
base coat will also help restore the original colouring of the surface of
stamped or pressed concrete. It is non-yellowing and has an excellent
resistance to water, alkalis, and acids. It also contains a UV absorber to
improve protection from ultra-violet light and prevent colour loss.
The Imprinted Concrete Sealers
are easily applied by sprayer or broom and will protect against colour loss and
surface wear. Make sure before applying that the surface temperature is between
10 – 23°C for optimum performance or the sealer may not perform as intended. Rhino-grip’Anti-Slip
Additive’ can be added for extra surface grip which is especially useful for
areas on a steeper angle where the surface can become slippery. They are also non-remulsifiable,
non-blooming when wet, tough, durable, and hard wearing and are specifically designed
for use with Pattern Imprinted Concrete.
